Rolando Hernández Guzmán is a researcher, artist, and composer whose practice explores the social dimensions of music and sound. His research encompasses experimental music and improvisation (2012–2015); the introduction of sound events from other artistic disciplines into sonic contexts through performative essays (2016–2019); curatorial and research practices as forms of artistic production (2013–present); the development of critical historiographies of sound practices in Mexico through CCADDASM (2015–present); and composition as an artistic practice (2010–present).
His work has been presented at institutions, festivals, and cultural platforms including Dar Jacir Foundation for Arts and Research, Ex Teresa Arte Actual, Unsound Festival, Labor Sonor, TSONAMI Arte Sonoro, Radio CASo, Material Art Fair, Errant Sound, Prague Quadrennial, the Venice Architecture Biennale, Le Larraskito, Fonoteca Nacional, Festival Internacional de Danza de Jalisco, and Anthology Film Archives.
Hernández Guzmán has toured and presented his work across Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Chile, Palestine, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Spain, the Basque Country, and the United States. His music has been released by labels including Other People, Sacred Realism, Lengua de Lava, Theme Park for Ear, and Impulsive Habitat. His writing has appeared on platforms such as Sul Ponticello, Sonic Field, SIMUC, UNTREF, and post(s).
